Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering with Positron Beams at Jefferson Lab
نویسنده
چکیده
The challenge of understanding nucleon electromagnetic structure still continues after more than five decades of experimental scrutiny. From the initial measurements of elastic form factors to the accurate determination of parton distributions through deep inelastic scattering, the experiments have increased in statistical and systematic accuracy. Only during the past decade it was realized that the parton distribution functions represent special cases of a more general, much more powerful, way to characterize the structure of the nucleon, the generalized parton distributions (GPDs). For recent reviews see [1, 2].

THE EXPERIMENTAL CHALLENGE OF VIRTUAL COMPTON SCATTERING ABOVE 8 GeV
We discuss the experimental issues confronting measurements of the virtualCompton-scattering (VCS) reaction ep→epγ with electron beams of energy 6 – 30 GeV. We specifically address the kinematics of deeply-virtual-Comptonscattering (deep inelastic scattering, with coincident detection of the exclusive real photon nearly parallel to the virtual photon direction) and large transverse momentum VCS...
متن کاملThe Gpd Experimental Program at Jefferson Lab
Recent results on the Generalized Parton Distribution (GPD) program at Jefferson Lab (JLab) will be presented. The emphasis will be in the Hall A program aiming at measuring Q−dependences of different terms of the Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering (DVCS) cross section. This is a fundamental step before one can extract GPD information from JLab DVCS data. The upcoming program in Hall A, using bo...
متن کاملAnalysis of Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering Data at Jefferson Lab and Proton Tomography
The CLAS and Hall A collaborations at Jefferson Laboratory have recently released new results for the ep → epγ reaction. We analyze these new data within the Generalized Parton Distribution formalism. Employing a fitter algorithm introduced and used in earlier works, we are able to extract from these data new constraints on the kinematical dependence of three Compton Form Factors. Based on expe...

After about 10 years of growing interest for Generalized Parton Distributions come the first results from dedicated experiments, using the golden Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering process. After a short introduction , we will explain the experimental methodology and show results of the Hall A E00-110 experiment, which aimed at measuring helicity-dependent photon electroproduction cross sections...
متن کاملDeeply Virtual Compton Scattering off Nuclei
Deeply virtual Compton scattering (DVCS) is the golden exclusive channel for the study of the partonic structure of hadrons, within the universal framework of generalized parton distributions (GPDs). This paper presents the aim and general ideas of the DVCS experimental program off nuclei at the Jefferson Laboratory. The benefits of the study of the coherent and the incoherent channels to the u...
